What we do
We create evocative spaces for exhibitions, promenade experiences and performance.
We articulate meaning and emotion through design, whether devising multi-sensory immersive environments or developing the look and feel of performances. Our work takes visitors and audiences on thought-provoking and emotionally charged journeys.
We do this by developing narratives, 3D design and creatively direct and manage projects, bringing together creative teams including, for example, sound and video artists, graphic and lighting designers and content developers as necessary. Over the years we have built a strong, international network of collaborators.
Anna Jones and Patrick Burnier are the, dynamic design team and creative vision behind Curious Space. Collaborating since 2005 when they completed the Motley Theatre Design course, they have developed their craft and unique approach side by side.
Design and direction
Patrick was born and raised in Switzerland. Whilst studying next to the Museum of Ethnography Neuchâtel (MEN) his eyes were opened to the transportative power of intriguing spaces and powerful stories. The experience redirected him towards theatre, where he worked as a technician and in construction before coming to the UK and the Motley Theatre design course in 2003.
Patrick went on to win the Linbury Prize for Stage Design in 2005. His diverse designs have been known at times to push the limits of engineering, and at others have been as simple as a chalk drawn circle.
Design and direction
Anna is passionate about performance. She studied drama at the University of Hull where she became inspired by scenography and has never looked back.
She puts herself into the shoes of the audience, and only stops pushing herself when the work truly excites and moves her. Anna likes to hone the design until only the essential elements remain. She has a real eye for detail and has developed an expertise in exquisite finishes.

He has a great aptitude in 3D spatial modelling and design and has become an accomplished production manager and excellent team leader.
